PALAVELA sports building

• Construction of Short track and Skating installations.
• Demolition and restoration of shellstructure "Vela" building.

Construction work included the restoration of a r.c. shell structure and construction of the new short track and skating rings for the municipality of Torino Sports Dpt. Demolition of glass curtain walls (2000 sq.m.), new waterproofing on the shell structure using French elastomeric membranes and copper finish(18000 sq.m.) New waterproofing bonding techniques have been developed for this application due to steep slopes at the corners. Removal of soundproofing fiber contaminants was performed on 16000 sq.m. Contractor's responsibilities included:

• Cleanup design and construction drawings;
• testing and certification;
• lab testing materials;
• environmental monitoring.
